Local Labour walk-out over London backed Remain candidates
We all remember the endless arguments over Brexit. Wakefield, and the country, voted to leave the European Union. And now, we’re getting on with the job, delivering on our priorities. But today, many residents are increasingly concerned about the arguments and divisions in the local Labour Party and what that means for the future of our area.
Their leadership wanted the choice to pick a local, Brexit supporting candidate. But they were overruled by Sir Kier Starmer’s London Labour HQ who gave members a choice of two outsider Remain candidates. And that caused a walk out of their entire local leadership.
