589 new police officers making an impact, say residents
In 2019, we promised to recruit 20,000 extra police nationally. And we’ve already secured 589 extra police for West Yorkshire. We’re also giving our police the powers they need to keep our communities safe.
We’ve introduced tough new sentences for the worst criminals, including whole life sentences for child murderers and the end of automatic early release for the most violent criminals. And we’re not going to stop there.
Nadeem Ahmed has a plan to work with local residents and ensure our new police are focused on patrolling crime hotspots, tackling aggressive begging in our town centre and making our rural communities safer.
By tackling crime with extra police, improving local transport, increasing jobs and skills and improving our town centre, we’re starting to deliver the change you voted for in 2019.
